RULES AND REGULATIONS (Revised January 2024) The following rules and regulations have been established to provide for and protect the interests of the club members and guests. It is the responsibility of parents/primary account holders to educate their children on all rules and regulations of the club and they will be held liable and accountable for compliance by all household members. Any failure to comply with these rules and/or instructions of the pool staff or Northwood board members shall be considered sufficient cause for immediate suspension of pool privileges for the offending member(s) or entire household for a period of up to 7 days, and it can be considered sufficient cause for cancellation of membership. Pool staff, management and board members are responsible for enforcing these rules and regulations. POOL SCHEDULE: 1. The pool shall open on or about Memorial Day and shall close on or about Labor Day. Exact dates shall be determined annually by the Board of Directors. 2. Operating hours will be determined and posted annually by the Board of Directors. 3. The schedule is subject to change, based on staff availability, weather conditions, programs and required maintenance. 4. All programs and swim practice schedules will be posted on the website to give members notification of these events. 5. When it is necessary to close the pool (e.g. maintenance, special programs, schedule changes or inclement weather), members will be notified via email and/or social media post. GENERAL: 1. Members shall check in at the desk upon entering the grounds and allow staff to check digital identification cards kept on file. They shall give their names, the names of any guests that are with them and pay the guest fee(s). See guest procedures listed below. 2. Digital membership records, including photos, should be kept up-to-date. 3. Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied and under direct supervision of a reliable individual who is at least 13 years old. 4. No pets allowed. 5. NO GLASS OF ANY KIND IS PERMITTED ON THE PROPERTY. 6. All persons using the pool and grounds do so at their own risk. The Club will not be liable for any accident or injury in connection with use. 7. Each membership is responsible for the cost of any property damage incurred by those listed under their membership and/or their guest(s). Members damaging property will be given 1 warning. The 2nd offense will result in suspension from the Club for a period of up to 7 days. 8. No abusive language will be permitted on pool property. 9. Any clothing with inappropriate language, suggestive actions, behaviors, gang colors, gang symbols or any other themes that are deemed not appropriate in the spirit of a family pool environment will be prohibited. All bathing suits should be appropriate for a family swimming pool and must cover all private areas. 10. All motorists shall drive slowly and carefully on the driveway and in the parking area (the maximum speed is 5 mph). 11. No bikes shall be permitted on the pool grounds. Bikes should be parked at the bike rack or in the grass area outside of the pool grounds. 12. The Club will not be responsible for the loss or damage of personal property. 13. Northwood grounds are smoke, vape, tobacco and drug free. 14. Members and their guests using the club property are responsible for cleaning up their trash and leaving no items behind. 15. Members and their guests using the pavilion will keep it neat and clean. No throwing objects in the pavilion or at the pavilion at any time. 16. The pavilion is available for member and guest use, except when it is reserved for a private party. CONCRETE DECK: 1. Street shoes will be allowed on the pool deck, but not on the coping stones (stones around the perimeter of the pool). 2. No running, pushing, wrestling or ball playing will be permitted. 3. No expectorating (spitting) is permitted on the pool grounds. 4. No food or drinks are allowed on the concrete pool deck, except while in designated areas. 5. No socializing with, visiting with, or distracting lifeguards on duty. MAIN AND WADING POOL: 1. Members and their guests are expected to shower before entering the pool. Wash sand from feet and body before entering the pool. 2. Any individual who has experienced diarrhea within the previous 24 hour period is not permitted to enter the water. 3. Admission to the pool may be refused to anyone with skin abrasions, colds, cough, inflamed eyes, infections, bandages, etc. 4. Spitting, blowing of nose, and chewing gum are prohibited. 5. No horseplay or undue disturbances will be permitted in or around the pools. 6. Only balls specifically made for the pool will be allowed in the pool area. 7. Back and arm floats, used to teach swimming, will be permitted in the large pool if the adult is within reach of the child in the pool. 8. In order to gain access to the deep end of the large pool, a member or guest must be able to complete the basic water test administered by a lifeguard, which consists of swimming one length of the pool and treading water for two minutes. 9. Children must be under direct supervision of a parent or adult to use the wading pool area. 10. Use of the wading pool area is limited to children under 6 years of age. 11. Children must wear swimming diapers until completely potty trained. Any child wearing a swimming diaper must wear a tight fitting bathing suit. Changing of diapers and swim suits shall be done in the bath house. 12. Extended underwater breath holding is prohibited. DIVING BOARD AND SLIDE: 1. NO GOGGLES OR MASKS OF ANY KIND. 2. One person will be permitted on a diving board or slide (including steps). 3. Before diving or sliding, the previous person must have reached the ladder. 4. Divers/sliders must swim directly to the ladder. 5. Diving or jumping from the diving board must be done off the front of the board only. 6. Swimmers must come down the slide feet first and in a seated position. 7. No running, pushing or goofing off on or near the board or slides. 8. No one is permitted to catch any person coming off the board or slide. 9. Swimming in the deep end is permitted only when the guard has called “swimming.” EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITES AND CLUB PROPERTY: 1. Sports equipment provided by Northwood should be checked out and returned to the guard shack. 2. Grills provided by the club can only be used by people 18 and over. 3. Chairs may not be saved for members and/or guests who have not yet arrived at the pool. In the event that all chairs are full, children may be asked to share with a parent or sit on a towel. BATH HOUSE: 1. Bath houses are for changing clothes, showering and using the restroom. Inappropriate use of the bathhouse will not be tolerated. 2. Parents/guardians are responsible for their children’s behavior while using the bath house. 3. Please be mindful of others and clean up after yourself. 4. Immediately notify a staff member of any issues pertaining to the bathhouse. TENNIS COURTS: 1. Sneakers must be worn on the tennis courts. Flip-flops or Crocs (rubber clogs) will not be allowed on the courts. 2. Shirts must be worn on the tennis courts. 3. Trash must be thrown away, including tennis ball containers. 4. Please limit play to 1 hour if others are waiting. 5. No food or drinks on the court. NO GLASS ALLOWED. 6. Profanity or poor sportsmanship will not be tolerated. DIGITAL AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE USE: All electronics are the sole responsibility of the owner. Devices must be kept off the concrete deck and coping stones. Verbal and visual content needs to be appropriate at all times. ALCOHOL RULES Northwood Swim and Tennis Club does not encourage or condone alcoholic consumption; however, alcohol is permitted on Northwood Property under the following minimum rules/guidelines: 1. GLASS BOTTLES ARE NOT ALLOWED ON NORTHWOOD PROPERTY. 2. Northwood is a family-oriented facility. Discretion is required while consuming alcohol on Northwood property. Use of a can cover or plastic cup is encouraged. 3. Alcohol will not be consumed by underage members or guests. Northwood has the right to request proof of age of an individual consuming alcohol on Northwood property. 4. Alcoholic beverages will not be left unattended. 5. Individual alcoholic containers are limited to 16 ounces or less and not to exceed 12 containers. Prior approval of the Northwood Board of Directors is required for larger alcoholic containers to be permitted and limited to the pavilion area only. 6. Alcohol is not permitted to be sold on Northwood property. 7. Members or guests who exhibit any improper, unruly or drunken behavior will be made to leave Northwood property and may be subject to further disciplinary action by the Northwood Board of Directors. GUESTS: 1. Guests are permitted when the sponsoring member is present. 2. Guests must provide their full name and an emergency contact number. Records will be kept to track guests. 3. Minors under age 13 may not register guests without the express written permission of an adult member of the same membership, whose written permission shall be retained by the Club. 4. A $10.00 guest fee will be charged per day to non-members. There is no charge for children 5 and under. 5. Members are limited to 6 guests per day without prior approval. 6. For 7 or more guests, pavilion rentals and after-hours parties, please submit your request at northwoodpool.com.
